Salt Rock is a small unincorporated community located in the western part of Cabell County, West Virginia, United States. It is situated along the Guyandotte River and is about 20 miles southeast of Huntington. The name Salt Rock came from the principal product of the area in the early nineteenth century when it was known as Salt Lick District. The economy of Salt Rock is largely based on agriculture and coal mining. It is home to one of the largest YMCA camps in the United States and also has a community center, a volunteer fire department, and several small businesses. The area is known for its natural beauty, including the stunning scenery of the nearby Guyandotte River and its surrounding hills.
